At the heart of VSC’s vision lies student engagement in problem solving. The curriculum will be rooted in Problem-based and Project-based learning.  These methodologies give students the opportunity to address scenarios and questions that will arrive in everyday life as teachers guide them to address these situations.  Students will be engaged in components of the problem solving proves such as using prior knowledge to brainstorm possible strategies, considering pertinent information, utilizing resources to gather the necessary information, and analyzing the information to formulate a product.  Math teachers will constantly be gauging student’s ability to carry out the process independently, and intervening when necessary.  In order for students to be successful carrying out the task, they must clearly understand the problem or task that is being posed.
